King of Kings Lutheran Church of Mason, Ohio began as an outreach mission of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Madisonville, Ohio. Worship services were first held in a blinding snowstorm on January 8, 1978 at the Resort Inn at Kings Island. The pastor and vicars of St. Paul served the congregation in its early months. God blessed this mission plant, and on February 14, 1980, King of Kings Lutheran Church was born as 30 people signed her charter.

The current King of Kings campus was built over a period of fifteen years. Thanks to a donation from our mother congregation, St. Paul, the congregation was able to dedicate its first building – chapel, restrooms, offices, storage and a small narthex – in May of 1985. The fellowship hall wing was added in 1988, and in 2000, the congregation opened a multipurpose room, remodeled narthex, classrooms and a nursery.

King of Kings is a congregation with bold faith:

  • A daughter congregation – Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church, Liberty Township, Ohio, was chartered in 1988 as a result of King of Kings families with a heart for outreach
  • The vision of the congregation allowed us to open our Early Childhood Education Ministries (ECEM) in 1995. ECEM has grown from one classroom to seven, with an enrollment of nearly 200 students and a capable, loving staff of nineteen teachers and aides, led by our director, Mr. Gil Schepmann.
  • Rev. Richard Tursic, pastor, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Florence, KY and Rev. Benjamin Rucker, pastor, Bethel Lutheran Church, Round Lake, MN are sons of the congregation. Another son of the congregation is currently studying to be a pastor. Other sons and daughters of the congregation have studied at our universities to enter professional church work such as teaching and family life ministry.

God has blessed King of Kings with a pastoral team that includes the Rev. John Mueller, who has served our congregation since 2003; and the Rev. Benjamin Kaiser, a May 2010 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri.

King of Kings, as a family of faith, unites under the banner “Together in Christ – Living and Sharing His Love”. As we trust in God’s promises and rejoice in His grace, we are eager to help those in our community – and beyond – to have a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who brings transformation and purpose to our daily lives and hope for our future

King of Kings also partners with parents in providing Christian formation throught its Early Childhood Education Ministries:

• Mom’s Day Out (age 2 by September 30)
