“Freed to Follow and Obey”
Matthew 5: 13 – 20
How easy it is for us to re-interpret God’s will and plan of salvation to align with our stubborn desires and views! One example is our sinfully re-interpreting the outcome of Jesus’ victory on the cross. We falsely assume that Christ-bought freedom from sin, death, and the devil, and that has eliminated all that God previously expected through His holy will and law. Jesus, who receives us into His kingdom, has not and does not dispense with all of God the Father’s holy expectations. Rather, Jesus calls us to maximize being His light to a sin-darkened world through our empowered obedience to God’s holy will. May the Holy Spirit move us to treasure our salvation in Jesus and to eagerly follow Him through our daily obedience to God’s holy will; one which has never changed throughout the course of time.
