“How Citizens in Christ’s Kingdom Live – I”
Matthew 5: 21 – 37
When we read God’s story throughout the pages of Scripture, we find that, after the Lord graciously claimed His people as His own and placed them in His kingdom, He also established His will concerning how His people are to behave. Such is the case as Jesus called His disciples, making them to be “salt” and “light” (Matthew 5: 13, 15). Jesus proceeds to explain what God’s holy expectations have always meant now that His disciples are citizens in God’s kingdom. May the Holy Spirit lead us also, as rescued followers of Jesus, to embrace Jesus’ explanation on how we are to live in matters related to anger, purity, divorce, and making oaths. May we be led to seek (1) forgiveness where we are being disobedient to Jesus’ holy expectations in these areas and (2) strength to live according to His still-relevant will.
