Elders

Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect… He must not be a recent convert… He must also have a good reputation with outsiders.
— 1 Timothy 3:2-7

Purpose and Nature of the Elders Ministry

  1. Be concerned about the spiritual welfare and nourishment of every member of the congregation, both individually and corporately, and provide appropriate spiritual care.
  2. Attend to the spiritual, emotional and physical health, and welfare of the pastor and his family.
  3. Assist and encourage the pastor in fulfilling his duties. The Elders Ministry shall share with the pastor the concerns for the spiritual life of the congregation (2 Timothy 2:2)
